2009 certainly had its ups and downs for ABR. We started this year off with our 1st class win ever and also won the 59th annual Spring Trophy in the May 10, 2009 BEMC Spring Trophy Races.

We followed that up in June with a 3rd place finish in the VARAC Vintage Festival.

We were rained out the next race and then on the August Civic holiday weekend we went testing at Shannonville. Our lap times during our 1st morning runs would have put us into the GT1 field! During a test run something went wrong with our Mazda competition transmission, and not to risk further damage we put the car on the trailer and went back to the shop. An inspection showed an issue with the shifter in the car and the repairs were completed.

Our next race was September 6th 2009 at Mosport. It was apparent from the drop of the green flag that the transmission issue was not resolved, however we tried to finish the 20 minute race. We did not. About 10 minutes in the 1st/2nd gear clutch hub assembly disintigrated while upshifting on the backstraight. As of this date we are still waiting for the assembly to come from japan.

I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who has been a part of the team this year. As last year if it wasnt for Chris James and Kam Harduwar, the RX7 never would have turned a lap. It is from their hard work and patience that we were able to get our 1st win! Scarboro Mazda, BFGoodrich, NGK, Mazmark Auto, Millennium Graphics, Eurasia Collision Center and Inkwell Marketing have all been there for us all year long and we appreciate their support for the last 3 years!
